The Community Hospital Foundation was established Feb. 10, 1956 with Blanche McCue serving as the President.  A Constitution and By-laws were adopted with the purpose being:

To promote interest in a general hospital for this community and to receive money and property which can be used in assisting in the operation, decorating, or furnishing of such a hospital.

Charter members of the Foundation were the organizations already established in the community and every organization had a representative.  There were 21 organizations represented in the Foundation. 

Past Presidents:  Blanche McCue, Vera Burrell,  Mary Jane Pratt, Bette Penner, Minerva Cohlmia, Margaret Graalman, Margaret Gard, Helen Sutter, Mary Wilkinson, Phyllis Jordan, Esther Wymer, Kathy Grim, Carrie Johnson and Kathy Gard. 

Debbie Carlisle has been president for the past 10 years along with Sue Burrell, Vice President; Mary Jane Pratt, Secretary and Esther Wymer, Treasurer. 

We meet the third Monday of Jan., April, July, and October at 2:00 in the cafeteria.

Donations are usually made in memory of a loved one and that goes directly to the Fairview Hospital Foundation.

The Foundation was gifted a large donation to be used towards scholarships to benefit the medical profession and is called the Hawes/Mellor Health Professions Scholarship.  To date the Foundation has awarded $61,300.00 over the past 10 years.  The receipient agrees to work in the Fairview Hospital for one year for every year of scholarship they receive.
